01What is Halves?
Halves is a wine club built entirely around the 375ml half-bottle. A wine club for one.
02What’s a half bottle?
375ml — half of a standard 750ml bottle. Two generous glasses. Enough for the evening, nothing left to go stale.
03How many glasses are in a half bottle?
Two generous ones. A 375ml half holds two 6oz pours; a standard 750ml holds five. It’s the format for finishing, not saving.
04What is a half bottle of wine called?
A demi — sometimes a fillette. 375ml, exactly half of a standard bottle.
05When does a half bottle beat a full bottle?
Whenever the bottle wouldn’t get finished: solo dinners, weeknights, one red and one white at the same table, trying something new without committing. If the second half would sit until tomorrow, buy the half.
06Do half bottles age differently?
They mature faster — more air per ounce of wine — so they’re best for wines meant to be drunk young. That’s most of what we sell.
07How do drops work?
Every drop runs for 7 days. You build your own case from that drop’s wines. If the drop reaches its quorum, it ships. If it doesn’t, you’re refunded the same day — automatically.
08Is this a subscription?
No. Drops, not subscriptions. Buy the drops that speak to you. Skip the rest. Nothing ever ships that you didn’t choose.
09How much does it cost?
Each drop is priced per wine — cost-plus, with shipping baked into the bottle price. Every half is benchmarked at 50% of its full-bottle comparable retail — never more. No membership fees, no surprise shipping at checkout.
10What wines are in a drop?
It changes every drop. Curated selections from around the world, chosen for the format. Full lineup, tasting notes, and prices are published before each drop opens.
11Can I pick my own wines?
Yes. Every drop, you build your own case. No mystery boxes, no substitutions.
12Where can I buy half bottles of wine online?
Plenty of places — most major wine retailers carry half bottles. The Halves difference: our drops draw from a much larger, more interesting selection than the retail shelf, and every half is priced at 50% of its full-bottle comparable retail. Never more.
13Where do you ship?
California at launch, expanding to everywhere direct-to-consumer wine shipping is allowed. Adult signature (21+) required on delivery.
14How fast is shipping?
We aim to ship within 5 business days of a drop closing.
15What if a drop doesn’t reach its quorum?
It’s cancelled and every buyer is refunded the same day. No exceptions.
16Can I gift Halves?
Yes — gifting is available at launch.
17Why half bottles?
A bottle is too much. A glass is too little. A half bottle is two good glasses and zero leftover-bottle math.
18What is the 50% promise?
Every half is priced at half of its full-bottle comparable retail price. If a 375 costs more than half the same wine in 750ml, it doesn’t make the drop. The half bottle should always be the no-brainer.
